DAY 1: CAIRO-ARRIVE CAIRO
Upon arrival at the Cairo airport, you Hill be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day at leisure to explore this fascinating city.
DAY 2: CAIRO-FULL DAY TOUR
Today you see the three great Pyramids and the magnificent Sphinx. Try a camel ride before you stop for lunch. After lunch you visit the Egyptian museum, the mosque of Mohammed ail at the citadel of Saladin and time permitting, the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar.
DAY 3: CAIRO-LUXOR
Early morning transfer to the Cairo airport for your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival at the Luxor airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The morning visit includes the famed Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari and the 70 feet tall, Colossi of Memnon. After lunch you visit the avenue of the Sphinxes, the imposing temple of Luxor and the Karnak temple-complex. Return to you hotel for overnight.
DAY 4: LUXOR-DENDERA/EDFU/KOM OMBO/ ASWAN
After breakfast depart for Dendera to visit the temple of Dendera, (78kms from Luxor), that was dedicated to the mother of all gods “Hator”. We arrive at Edfu where by horse drawn carriage we visit the temple of Horus, the best preserved of all the large temples. After Edfu we proceed to Komombo to visit the Greco-roman temple, dedicated to Horus and the temple of Komombo dedicated to two deities, the crocodile headed “Sobek” and “Haroeries”, the headed sparrow hawk. We arrive in Aswan for overnight.
DAY 5: ASWAN-ABU SIMBEL, (OPTIONAL)
After breakfast transfer to Aswan airport for your flight to Abu Simbel, which is considered to be one of the most impressive sites in Egypt. You will visit the two temples built by Ramses II as a high architect before he became a Pharaoh. The 100 foot high great temple is world famous and features 4 statues of Ramses ii and his wife Queen Nefertari, each 65 foot high. Next to the great temple is the temple dedicated to Queen Nefertari. Both temples were originally carved in a mountain. In 1965 they were moved 600 feet and raised 65 feet, to save them from the flooding caused by the construction of the High Dam. In the afternoon return to Aswan to visit the Aswan High Dam and the unfinished obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut. Continue by motorboat to the island of Philae to see the sandstone Temple of Isis. Later you sail on a typical Egyptian “Felucca” passing Elephantine island, Lord Kitchener’s Botanical Garden and the Aga Khan mausoleum. Return to the hotel for overnight.
DAY 6: ASWAN-CAIRO
In the morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Cairo. Upon arrival at the Cairo airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day at leisure for last minute shopping.
DAY 7: CAIRO-DEPARTURE
Free time until you are transferred to the airport for your departure flight. |
